Join the Anderson County Democrats for a full-day community field trip as we explore the rich and complex history of East Tennessee. We’ll begin at the Coal Creek Miners Museum, where we’ll learn about the lives of miners and the legacy of labor organizing in our region. From there, we’ll head to the Whistle Stop Café for a bite to eat (or bring your own picnic!) before wrapping up at the Rocky Top Public Library, where we’ll hear a special presentation on how Coal Creek became Lake City—and eventually adopted the name Rocky Top.
We’ll be carpooling from HQ and spending the day walking through the stories that shaped our mountain towns. Come curious, come hungry, and come ready to connect with the past—and each other.
If you would like to meet us at the museum to start the day, please meet us at 201 South Main Street, Rocky Top, TN 37769 at 11:00am
