We are fortunate in Anderson County that we have opportunities to personally meet candidates that we will nominate to run for statewide offices. ACDP is working hard to bring candidates for the Senate, Governor, and Congress here so each of us can meet them, ask questions, size them up, and make up our own mind about them.  ACDP does not endorse any candidate before the primary, but we want you to be informed and ready to vote when the primary occurs.

Recently, about 80 people showed up at Razzleberry’s in Oak Ridge to hear gubernatorial candidate Craig Fitzhugh speak and to talk to him one-on-one.  In addition to answering questions after his speech, he listened to many people individually and discussed their concerns.  We received positive feedback from people that attended.  Everyone also enjoyed the free ice cream that ACDP provided thanks to a generous donor.

Labor Day, Sept. 4, is another opportunity for you to meet a candidate up close and personally.  Roane County Democratic Party is sponsoring its annual Labor Day picnic at Roane County Park, 12pm-3pm.  The keynote speaker at the picnic will be Dr. Danielle Mitchell, our candidate for the nomination for the TN 3rd Congressional District, the seat currently held by Republican Chuck Fleischmann. I’ve heard she is impressive and I can’t wait to meet her.

We will have another opportunity to meet Dr. Mitchell on September 21 when she comes to the September ACDP general meeting.  This event is likely to be smaller, so here’s your chance to voice your concerns directly to her.

In the coming months we will be working with other candidates to bring as many statewide candidates to Anderson County as we can and we will provide opportunities to meet local candidates as well.

Stay tuned! We have a lot going on.  Keep up with us on this blog and on our Facebook page, Anderson County Tennessee Democrats.
